Students of the Marian Institute of Management (MIM), Marian College Kuttikkanam Autonomous, embarked on a three-day Global Student Mobility Programme at Assumption University, Bangkok, Thailand, from 22 to 24 September 2026, organised by the Graduate School of Business and Advanced Technology Management, Assumption University, Bangkok, Thailand.
More than an academic visit, the programme unfolded as a journey into a wider world of ideas, cultures, and possibilities, bringing together academic engagement, leadership development, cross-cultural learning, and industry exposure in an enriching international setting. It offered students the opportunity to step beyond the familiar boundaries of the classroom and encounter management education through new perspectives, diverse experiences, and global conversations.
Learning from a Global Perspective
The academic component of the programme explored contemporary dimensions of global business practices, cross-cultural management, empowerment, leadership, and change management. The sessions were handled by distinguished faculty members of Assumption University—Dr. Bhumiphat Gilitwala, Dr. Somchai Tantasanee, and Dr. Sirichai Preudhikulpradab—whose expertise and engaging approach transformed each session into an intellectually stimulating experience. Through interactive discussions, practical illustrations, and professional insights, the faculty encouraged students to look beyond conventional frameworks, critically examine contemporary business challenges, and appreciate how effective leadership and management practices evolve across diverse organisational and cultural contexts.

From Classroom Concepts to Industry Practices
As part of the program, the students visited MG Motor Production Plant, gaining first-hand exposure to the functioning of an international automotive organization. The industrial visit provided valuable insights into business operations and organizational practices while allowing students to relate their academic learning to real-world situations.
The experience helped bridge the gap between management theory and industry practice, giving students a closer understanding of how organizations operate, adapt, and respond to the demands of a competitive international business environment.

Experiencing Culture and International Learning
The program extended beyond academic learning, offering students an opportunity to experience the educational environment and cultural diversity of Thailand. Interacting with academic community encouraged students to develop greater cultural awareness, adaptability, and a more global outlook towards management and leadership. Such international exposure forms an important part of holistic management education, enabling students to understand that effective management extends beyond technical knowledge and requires openness to diverse cultures, perspectives, and ways of doing business.
A Celebration of Learning and Achievement
The three-day international learning programme concluded with a certificate presentation ceremony, exchange of gifts, followed by a group photograph marking the successful completion of the enriching international learning experience. Rev. Bro. Sirichai Fonseka, F.S.G., Ph.D., President of Assumption University of Thailand, presented the certificates to the participating students and congratulated them on their successful completion of the programme. The ceremony brought the programme to a memorable close, celebrating the students’ learning, engagement, and international exposure.

The Global Business and Leadership Program marked a significant international learning experience for the students of MIM. It provided them with an opportunity to learn across borders, engage with global perspectives, experience a new culture, interact with international faculty, and gain first-hand industry exposure.
Dr Fr Jose Chittadiyil, Dr M Sulaipher, and Ms Parvathy R Nair, who accompanied the students, also engaged in a series of formal and informal discussions with the Deans, Heads of Departments, and other academic leaders of Assumption University. These interactions provided an opportunity to explore possibilities for expanding academic collaboration and developing mutually beneficial initiatives in areas of shared interest between the two institutions.
The program reflects Marian Institute of Management’s commitment to providing students with meaningful opportunities for international exposure, experiential learning, leadership development, and global business understanding, preparing them to confidently engage with the evolving world of business and management.
